Meal prep for our neighbors - ECHO

This past Friday afternoon, the Bloom community teamed up to prepare a meal for our neighbors across the street at the El Camino Homeless Organization. ECHO exists to empower people in SLO County to make positive change by providing food, shelter, and supportive services. This was the second meal Bloom has prepared for our neighbors this year.

It was a privilege to work together to get a large volume of food prepped, cooked well, and out the door to ECHO.

Bloom member Shane Sparks took the lead by selecting the meal, doing the grocery shopping, and rallying the volunteers. As he reflects on the day, he shares that:

“It’s great to spend time serving together as a community and taking just a little time to help folks at home. Everyone was stoked about the Chili, Fritos, and cornbread, and lots of folks came back for seconds and took some to go. We had plenty for them to have leftovers for the week and folks were super thankful for some filling and good-tasting food. A couple of younger folks had never tasted cornbread before and this event changed that. Grateful for your friendship and willingness to serve and enjoy life together! Looking forward to more.” - Shane Sparks, Bloom member and event coordinator

This really helped us get into the Holiday spirit. Looking forward to doing it again soon. Cheers from your neighbors at Bloom!
